PEOPLE WHO ARE PREGNANT

Women. Traditionally, pregnancy was limited to the female gender. In the future, that limitation may change. Until it does, this page will seek to assist women who are otherwise inhabited.

YOU – A MOTHER TO BE

Okay, Milady, you have just been told that you are pregnant, or you are midway into your pregnancy, or you are close to your due date. Whatever week of pregnancy you are currently in [ there are 40 of them – aka 10 months ], you have a lot of questions about your condition.

You think of new questions throughout the day. You forget to ask questions during office visits with your healthcare team. You asked your list of questions and got answers you did not fully understand. Your stress level is high because there never seems to be enough time to ask for clarification.

Maybe you have an upcoming appointment and would like to know what to expect during the visit. You have neither the time – nor the desire – to search through the volumes of misinformation, half-truths, and personalized anecdotes of pregnancy on the internet.

You wish you had one person you could write to and ask for a simple, accurate answer. You wish you had more time to address your concerns on your schedule. You wish you had an honest source of information.

ME – A CAREER OF ANSWERS

My career goal is to improve access to healthcare information in the Obstetric [ OB ] setting.

I have answered a lot of questions regarding pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care. Most of the time, the questions have been routine, common sense and “normal.” Of course there has been, on occasion, the not so routine and ‘oddball’ zinger thrown in for fun.

‘Can I get pregnant from having had sex with a donkey?” I was asked that question in 2010. I must say it was the most memorable question of my career.

Regardless of your concern, I am sure I have either faced it before and already know the answer – or that I can find the answer in a timely fashion. While I will probably respond to your questions within a day or two of receiving them, please understand if it takes me a little more time to develop an answer. I will not abandon you. If an answer will take more time, I will send you an e-mail saying so. I put greater emphasis on being accurate and safe than I do on being fast.

WE – A RELATIONSHIP OF TRUST

Working together, you and I, will help you throughout your pregnancy. You will be more informed about the healthcare options you choose. You will be more engaged in your care and your baby’s well being. You will be more educated about the possible healthcare options you may be presented with.

Our relationship should make you a better prepared mother to be. With knowledge before an incident occurs, you should know that it is happening – if it does – and how to respond to it before it becomes an “emergency.

WE – AND EVEN MORE

This page of my website is for people who are concerned with their own pregnancy. I am developing additional pages to introduce myself to future clients who are pre-pregnant [ preconception |, post-pregnant [ postpartum J, students, and men who want to address their own healthcare. I will offer specialized information and subscription plans for each type of client. Obviously, I will not discuss issues regarding a specific client with any other client.

ME – INTENT

Whether you choose the monthly option or the full-term plan, my purpose is the same — to stay consistent with you and support you throughout your pregnancy from beginning to end.

If you choose the bundle and your time extends beyond delivery, that’s okay. You can still reach out with questions related to your postpartum experience.

Full 40-week bundle $177.60

PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT PREGNANT SUBSCRIPTION PLAN

This plan is for anyone men, women, or anyone in between who has questions about reproductive health but is not the one who is pregnant.

Sometimes, the situation involves someone else’s pregnancy, and you may not feel comfortable bringing them into the conversation. This plan gives you a private space to ask what you need to ask.

For example:
“She has just been diagnosed with an STD that I do not have. Does that mean she cheated? What should I do for myself?”

This subscription is $19.93 per month. It is designed for people who need clarity without involving the other person.

That said, I do not and will not discuss any individual client’s information with anyone else.

Your email cannot be associated with any other OB RN Advisor account.

PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT PREGNANT

Nothing happens in a vacuum. Pregnancy does not affect a woman. It affects her, the baby, and all of the people around her who know she is pregnant. The – Not Pregnant – have questions too.

YOU – WHY IS SHE…. ?

This Bud’s for you: husbands, boyfriends, FOB [ Father of Baby ], SO [ Significant Other ], gay couples contemplating surrogacy to enlarge their family, the currently non-pregnant half of the lesbian couple, well-meaning relatives and friends.

I can help: people who are interested in pregnancy in general, home school students needing guidance for class projects, and nursing students concerned with “the family’ experience.

Just about everyone has questions about reproductive health, pregnancy, and related topics. You search the internet and run into “twists, turns, and add-ons’ that lead in the opposite direction of where you are trying to go regarding information about pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, reproduction, gender health, etc. It can be overwhelming, time consuming, and frustrating. Worst of all are comments based on misinformation, myths and wrinkly wives tales that are often interwoven with enough fact to make the hack sound true. She wants you to be the buddy who can deal with the maze and simplify her life – but what a maze!

ME – NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN FAMILY

One of the major changes I’ve seen in the healthcare system during my career is that there are fewer nurses caring for many more patients. The doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers are too busy doing what must be done for everyone – at the same time – that they do not have time for a woman’s basic questions. If they can not properly educate the pregnant women – everyone else must be getting ignored.

Meanwhile, the type of patients we see is becoming more diverse by the day. In the past month, I have helped pregnant women who are surrogates for gay couples, lesbian couples, and couples who can no longer conceive. I have helped polygamous families, monogamous families, and women who are going to raise a family on their own. Eventually, the transgender community will develop procedures and technologies to become pregnant as well.

Regardless of their situation, just about everyone has someone who cares about them. People have questions. They [ you | deserve accurate, nonjudgmental answers.

ME A NURSE, WIFE, MOTHER, FRIEND

During my career, I have served as an L&D [ Labor and Delivery | nurse, unit educator, team manager, and in all positions in-between. I even served as a combat nurse with the 12th Evac. during the First Gulf War.

WE – CAN WADE THROUGH THIS TOGETHER

Recently, I had a patient become angered over having swallowed her gum. She thought it would be in her unborn child’s hair at birth. I have had patients try ‘remedies’ that they learned from ‘trusted’ websites only to harm their child. I have had men pull me aside and ask me – as covertly as they could – about testing for STDs and paternity. Perhaps most surprisingly, I have helped many husbands and fathers understand what a prostate is – and how it causes pregnancy.

Many people do not know the basics of pregnancy, their bodies, or how to properly care for themselves. Regardless of gender, our sexuality is often misunderstood. A lack of knowledge can only serve to hurt us and our families.

I am here to help you address your fears, reduce the stress caused by misinformation, and maybe improve your response to care during one of the scariest, yet most important, times of your life – that of bringing a new life into the world.

WE – THE OTHER “HALF”

Our goal, yours and mine, is to understand the healthcare management process of your partner or surrogate. You may also have concerns about your personal future as it pertains to reproduction, pregnancy, child birth, and mother | parent | baby issues.

WE – AND EVEN MORE

This subscription plan is for people who are concerned with the experiences of a mother to be. I am developing additional pages to introduce myself to future clients who are pregnant, pre-pregnant [ preconception |, post-pregnant [ postpartum |, students, and men who want to address their own healthcare. I will offer specialized information and subscription plans for each type of client. Obviously, I will not discuss issues regarding a specific client with any other client.
