Professional Experience

Director of combined 6-bed LDR and 21-bed unit Antepartum/Postpartum/GYN Surgery, 15 bed Level I Nursery in a large regional teaching medical center on a 24/7 basis which included short/long term planning, hiring, interviewing and orienting new staff.

  • Facilitated the opening of the first Obstetric Emergency Department (OBED) in the San Antonio area
  • Developed a management style emphasizing professional responsibility
  • Delegated authority for problem-solving and involved staff in decision making
  • Held staff accountable for their actions and supported them in resolving interpersonal issues
  • Developed/implemented cost containment proposals by involving staff in scheduling
